Without Losing Your Data

Getting a new Apple Watch? Find out how to move all your Fitbit data to Apple Health, so you can start using your Apple Watch without losing years of steps, workouts, sleep, and more!

Step 1: Set up your Apple Watch

  1. Turn on your Apple Watch and put it on your wrist

  2. Hold your watch near your iPhone. A message will appear - tap continue. If you don’t see the pop-up, open the Watch app, tap All Watches and then Pair New Watch

  3. Follow the instructions on screen to pair your watch and iPhone using the camera

  4. If you’ve never had an Apple Watch before, choose Set Up as New Apple Watch. You may need a software update to continue

  5. Sign in with your Apple ID

  6. Choose settings like Find My, Wifi Calling, etc, and create a passcode (optional)

  7. Wait for your watch and phone to sync up

Step 2: Download Fitbit to Apple Health Sync on the App Store

myFitnessSync - Fitbit to Apple Health Sync is specifically designed to make transferring your Fitbit data to an Apple Watch (and Apple Health) super easy. You can transfer your entire Fitbit history over to Apple Health.

There is no built in way to transfer this data, so this app is a must-have if you want access to all your Fitbit data in the Apple ecosystem.

Step 3: Log in to Fitbit through myFitnessSync

Follow the steps on screen to log in to your Fitbit account through myFitnessSync. Make sure to give the app access to all fields, including profile, or you will have issues when you try to sync.

Note: myFitnessSync pulls data directly from fitbit.com, so you do not need a Fitbit in order to use it. If you do still have your Fitbit, it does not need to be on.

Step 4: Choose which fields to sync

With this app, you can sync all your Fitbit data in 14 fields:

  • Steps

  • Workouts

  • Weight

  • Water

  • Sleep

  • Resting Heart Rate

  • Walking and Running Distance

  • Active Energy

  • Resting Energy

  • Dietary Energy (Food Calories)

  • Body Fat Percentage

  • BMI

  • Lean Body Mass

  • Stairs

Step 5: Tap sync to switch your Fitbit data to Apple

After tapping “Sync Now”, the app will open Fitbit. Tap the back button on the top left or double tap the home button and return to myFitnessSync. That will start the sync.

Make sure not to leave the screen (including turning your screen off) during the sync. If you have a lot of data, it can take a few minutes to grab it all.

That’s It!

Now you’ve switched from Fitbit to Apple Watch, while keeping all your old data. If you want to keep using your Fitbit, you can use the auto-sync function to keep syncing your Fitbit data on a daily basis.
